The 15 Step Learner Path
The ‘Happy Hearts Happy Families’ text allows us to follow a path of ‘15 Steps’ to teach children to read with understanding, fluency, and joy. This takes place within a vocabulary of 200 words. In the English language, there are 44 unique sounds or ‘phonemes’, which are combined to form syllables and words. The ‘15 Steps’ introduce where each phoneme is first presented in Happy Hearts Happy Families, and how phonemes are combined to form words and sentences.
